In cold rolling, where tolerances are measured in microns, the precise control of the roll gap is the definitive factor in achieving target strip thickness and uniformity. Metals-Tech’s Automatic Gap Control (AGC) system is a high-performance, closed-loop solution engineered to deliver exceptional gauge accuracy, superior strip quality, and maximum yield across all cold rolling applications, from single-stand mills to high-speed tandem lines.
Our AGC system continuously monitors strip thickness via high-accuracy X-ray or laser gauges and dynamically adjusts the hydraulic gap control (HGC) system to compensate for all known disturbances in real-time. It integrates multiple control modes to address the fundamental causes of thickness variation.By implementing Metals-Tech’s AGC, producers achieve drastic reductions in head-to-tail and edge-to-edge thickness variation. This translates directly into higher product quality, increased yield through minimized off-gauge material, and the capability to roll to the absolute limits of your mill’s design, enabling the production of more challenging, high-value thin and ultra-thin gauges with confidence.
